External ultrasonic meters send sound pulses between two sensors strapped to the outside of a pipe and work out flow from the way the liquid changes the journey time. Because the pipe is never opened, the meter can be added to a working line, moved between measuring points, or used to verify an existing meter.
This family is listed with a digital LCD display, an RS485 sensor interface and a data logger, and the listing names hot water and fuel oil among the liquids. The photographs show the transmitter with its pair of sensors on a pipe spool and a typical on-pipe arrangement.
